Hong Kong - Dec 9 (5)
Well, they did make it back, and I think they had a good time. They came back empty-handed; they didn't buy a thing! Since that's unheard of, Joshua and I ran down to the Park n Shop to get a few things. I got a nice surprise when I got home and looked at my receipt and found out that since I bought TWO 6-L bottles of water, I got a HK$6 rebate! That makes it an even better deal. You know us cost accountants, always looking for the best bargain. Jayden and David took the bus from here to North Point and found the A/G church for in the morning. Then they caught the MTR (at North Point) and rode to Central to change trains and head to the Baptist church at the Kowloon Tong MTR station. They found that church, too. They stopped for a rest at a park right next to the church. Then they headed back home. Coming home David discovered that we CAN stop at the Admiralty MTR station and not have to ride the extra stop to Central; see, Central has "lifts" but Admiralty doesn't, so before we thought we needed to go on to the Central station (the two lines overlap at both stops). However, to change trains David found out you only have to cross to the other side of the platform; no stairs are involved. So we don't have to do the extra stop. It's not a big deal if we would have to, but not having to is even better! When they got home I was ready to get out for a minute. I didn't have a chance to do so earlier. So it was 7:00 and already dark, and Joshua and I walk down to the Park n Shop. I decided to buy a little Christmas tree and some decorations -- I got everything for less than US$10. I think it's worth it. We came back and ate some stir-fry chicken and vegetables with rice noodles -- it was good! There are no leftovers. We may get away without going to the store tomorrow. But we'll be out anyway, so we may decide to swing into the store. There are more choices and bigger stores there at North Point. All we have here is the little Park n Shop and a 7-eleven -- which is even smaller. (I haven't even been there yet, but I've looked inside other 7-elevens around town.) I wish we had a bakery, but it's probably good we didn't; I eat enough bread as it is. I do want to try the different breads, though. Maybe that's something I can get tomorrow in North Point. David and Joshua are watching Men in Black II; I just finished uploading some pictures to share, and Jayden's sleeping. It's been a good day. Aleecia
